War Clearance Activities
SO.GE.L.M.A. has developed its activity at a national level, clearing over 100,000 km2 of land from explosive remnants of war with the identification and recovery of: 250-500-1000-2000 pound aircraft bombs, mines, bombs and grenades, artillery shells, buried explosives depots, etc. These works were carried out on civil construction sites, for the construction of numerous public works, railway, road, port and maritime infrastructures. In recent years SO.GE.L.M.A. has carried out important reclamation works on behalf of public and private bodies, both on emerged lands (former industrial areas) and on the seabed (jetties, sea-lines, dredging areas).
In recent years, the Company has invested significant resources in equipment and personnel for the execution and planning of mine clearance operations in the territories affected by the Gulf War, in Bosnia, Serbia and Lebanon. In these specific operations, the Company has proven to be competitive on the international market for the application of the best available technologies for the localization and clearance of latest-generation war devices.
This has involved an adequate and specific logistic and support activity for the technical staff, for the maintenance of the equipment and for the execution of the works. In order to develop modern innovative technologies and maintain adequate competitiveness in the market, the Company has participated in international conferences and meetings, in Stuttgart, Kuwait City, Sarajevo, Rome, etc.
The Company's activities are carried out through:
- Detailed surveys and plans for both land and marine surveys
- Computerized scanning for the localization of explosive materials
- Logistics planning to support the cleanup work, both in terms of human resources and equipment
- Organization of construction sites, mobile operating fields
- Staff training
- Training of instructors and sweepers for land and underwater mine and war device clearance
- Mapping of mine-affected areas and unexploded ordnance

Sogelma boasts over ten years of experience in the field of land warfare clearance. The recognition of the VII classification (unlimited) issued by the Ministry of Defense is just the tip of the diamond of a solid, innovative company that is in touch with the needs of its customers.
Underwater Warfare Clearance
Sogelma boasts over ten years of experience in the field of underwater warfare clearance. Although it is a medium-sized company in the Underwater Warfare Clearing sector (IV classification) issued by the Ministry of Defense, it employs highly specialized personnel and innovative detection equipment such as the G882.
